Is ManyChat Pro worth $39 for a small business in 2026?

Yes, while under 2,500 people a month interact with you through it. Then Pro adds $0.05 per active contact. A flat plan is $29 a month for four accounts.

Yes, ManyChat Pro is worth $39 a month at a few thousand followers while fewer than 2,500 people a month interact with you through it.

Every competitor price here is what the vendor's own page listed in October 2026. Past 2,500 active contacts, Pro adds $0.05 for each extra one on monthly billing. A 4,000-contact month costs $39 + 1,500 x $0.05 = $114.

If keyword DMs and replies are the whole job, BetterSocials is the flat-price pick for local businesses, creators and small agencies, at $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly, for four accounts with unlimited contacts. ManyChat still fits multi-step flows and WhatsApp, and Meta Business Suite sends basic comment-to-message replies on Instagram and Facebook for $0.

Price your own ManyChat month in five steps

ManyChat bills on active contacts, so the number an operator needs is a count of people, never followers. You can run these five steps this week.

  1. Pull your busiest month. If you already run ManyChat, start from the active contacts it billed you for. If you don't, count the distinct people who commented on, messaged or got an automated DM from your accounts last month.
  2. Use the peak, never the average. One busy post can push you past your plan's included contacts, and the bill follows that month.
  3. Run one formula per tier. The bill is the plan price, plus your active contacts minus the included contacts, times the extra-contact rate.
  4. Check the two switch points. On monthly billing, Pro is cheaper than Essential above about 470 active contacts, and Business is cheaper than Pro above 3,700, where $39 + 1,200 x $0.05 = $99.
  5. Write the result next to a flat price. BetterSocials Creator, for example, costs the same for four accounts at any contact count.

The table shows the cheapest ManyChat tier at each count on monthly billing, at the rates on ManyChat's pricing page. BetterSocials Creator sits first as the flat benchmark, covering four accounts.

Active contactsBetterSocials CreatorCheapest ManyChat planManyChat bill
250$29Essential$17
1,000$29Pro$39
2,500$29Pro$39
4,000$29Business$99
7,500$29Business$99
10,000$29Business$161.50

Past 3,700, staying on Pro costs more than moving up.

At 4,000 active contacts, Pro is $39 plus 1,500 extra contacts at $0.05, or $114, against $99 on Business. At 10,000, Pro is $39 + 7,500 x $0.05 = $414.

Business at 10,000 is $99 + 2,500 x $0.025 = $161.50. Essential climbs fastest. Its rate is $0.10, so it stops being the cheapest tier at about 470 active contacts.

The table assumes you move up a tier in time. ManyChat says that far past the cap, automations may pause.

Where ManyChat earns its price for a small account

ManyChat earns its price when your funnel is more than one message. Its flow builder runs multi-step sequences with conditions, follow-ups and integrations across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook Messenger, Telegram, WhatsApp, SMS and email.

At the very bottom, ManyChat costs less. Essential is $14 a month billed yearly for 250 active contacts, under the $24 that BetterSocials Creator costs billed yearly for four accounts.

A flat plan wins when keyword DMs and replies are the whole job. On a metered plan each busy month sets a new bill, and on a flat plan a busy month costs what a quiet month costs.

For an operator, it comes down to the build. If you'd design branching flows or send on WhatsApp, price ManyChat. If you'd only set keywords and answer people, price a flat plan first.

If you run accounts for clients, we covered that setup in How to set up one Instagram DM inbox for agency clients without per-contact fees in 2026.

ManyChat overage charges and the two controls to set this week

ManyChat charges per extra active contact once you pass your plan's included number. On monthly billing the rate is $0.10 on Essential, $0.05 on Pro and $0.025 on Business. On yearly billing it's $0.082, $0.038 and $0.018.

The overage is counted and billed every month, even when the plan is paid yearly. A yearly Pro account at 4,000 active contacts pays 1,500 x $0.038 = $57 for extra contacts that month, on top of the $29 monthly rate.

Business billed yearly at 10,000 active contacts works out to $69 + 2,500 x $0.018 = $114 for the month. That's the same as Pro at 4,000 on monthly billing.

ManyChat doesn't cut you off at the cap. Automations keep running and the overage is billed automatically, though far past the cap they may pause.

Set two controls before your next launch post:

  1. Set an overage threshold. ManyChat lets you set one. Pick the number on a calm day and add it to your launch checklist.
  2. Upgrade inside the same cycle. Upgrading in the same billing cycle forgives that cycle's overage. If a Pro month heads toward 4,000 active contacts, moving to Business before the cycle closes is the cheaper bill.

Check your active contact count before any big post, too. That count decides which tier the month lands on.

How ManyChat defines an active contact

ManyChat's Active Contacts help article defines an active contact as a person who interacts with you through ManyChat in the billing month. The unit is a person, and the count runs per billing month.

Follower count doesn't set the bill. Your followers only matter through the ones who comment, message or get an automated DM that month.

A quiet month and a launch month on the same account can land on different tiers. If you own the reporting, track active contacts per month in the same sheet as leads, so the bill and the pipeline sit side by side.

ManyChat Essential, Pro and Business next to a flat plan

ManyChat's current pricing is the default for accounts created on or after March 2, 2026, and it's rolling out to older accounts country by country. The table lists each plan's monthly price, its yearly price per month, the active contacts it includes and the extra-contact rate on monthly billing, with BetterSocials Creator first for comparison.

PlanMonthlyBilled yearlyIncluded contactsExtra contact
BetterSocials Creator, 4 accounts$29$24Unlimited$0
ManyChat Essential$17$14250$0.10
ManyChat Pro$39$292,500$0.05
ManyChat Business$99$697,500$0.025

AI features start on ManyChat Pro. An extra inbox seat is $25 on Pro and up, and Essential and Pro come with a 14-day trial.

Advanced sits above Business at $199 a month, or $139 billed yearly, for 25,000 active contacts.

The $0 options from ManyChat and Meta

ManyChat Free holds 25 active contacts a month for accounts created on or after March 2, 2026, down from 1,000 before. That covers a test. Past 25 people in a month you move to Essential at $17 a month, or $14 billed yearly, for 250.

Older ManyChat accounts may still sit on legacy pricing. There, Pro starts at $15 a month for 500 contacts, and the tier is chosen by contact count.

Meta Business Suite is the other $0 option. Its comment-to-message automation sends a message reply when a comment on your Instagram or Facebook post contains your keyword. You write the template and set it up on desktop, and it can wait 15 minutes before sending unless you reply first.

Where BetterSocials fits in a small team's stack

BetterSocials is best for local businesses, creators and small agencies whose comments and DMs bring in customers and who want the same bill every month. Creator is $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly, for four accounts and one login.

Pro is $49 a month, or $39 billed yearly, for six accounts. Team is $99 a month, or $79 billed yearly, for twelve accounts with unlimited teammates.

Every BetterSocials plan has unlimited contacts, DMs and keyword automations, and nothing is billed per contact. AI credits meter AI writing only, and when they run out the AI pauses and never charges more on its own.

A keyword in an Instagram or Facebook comment sends the person a DM with your link, with no flow builder. On TikTok, YouTube, Threads and LinkedIn Company Pages, the keyword posts a public reply with the link instead.

AI replies have a Comments section and a DMs section, each set to Off, Draft for me or Reply in my voice. When your AI rules don't cover what someone asked, the comment or DM waits for you in Needs reply. We walked through writing those rules in How to write AI reply rules for prices, hours and bookings.

BetterSocials isn't the only flat price. CreatorFlow Pro is $15 a month, or $12 billed yearly, for two Instagram accounts and 5,000 DMs a month, so it's cheaper for Instagram alone. BetterSocials costs more and puts Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Threads and LinkedIn Company Pages in one inbox, with AI replies in your voice.

BetterSocials doesn't offer WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS, email inboxes or X, and it doesn't import ManyChat flows or keywords. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial, card required, from the pricing page on the BetterSocials site, and its ManyChat alternative page shows how the setup compares.
