Lash and nail studios: auto-DM a booking link in 2026

A comment-to-DM keyword DMs your booking link when someone comments PRICE. Setup in BetterSocials, ManyChat or Meta Business Suite, and Meta's 7-day rule.

A lash or nail studio sends a booking link from a "price" comment with a comment-to-DM keyword: a word that, once someone comments it, sends them a DM. Our pick is BetterSocials, an AI social media manager for local businesses, creators and small agencies, from $29 a month for four accounts. ManyChat suits studios that want multi-step flows, and Meta Business Suite sends one fixed template for free.

The person comments PRICE under your Reel. Your account answers them in public, and the DM with your booking link lands in their inbox or their message requests. Meta allows one of those DMs per comment, within 7 days of the comment.

What should a price comment trigger?

ManyChat, BetterSocials and Meta Business Suite all handle the same handoff: a comment comes in, a DM goes out, and your booking page does the rest. Here it's one lash or nail studio, one keyword and one booking link, with the setup written out so you can run it this week.

Treat a price comment as a lead that has already raised its hand.

The public reply under the comment tells everyone reading that the link went out. The DM carries the booking link. And something has to catch everything that isn't the keyword, like a question about a set or a time.

The plan for a studio comes down to three steps:

  1. Connect your Instagram account so every comment and DM lands in one inbox.
  2. Set PRICE as your keyword, write the DM with your booking link, and go live.
  3. Write your prices and hours as AI rules, so the other questions get answered too.

Set it up, and every price comment gets your booking link while you work. Leave it, and every price comment waits for your next break between clients.

What are Meta's rules for private replies to Instagram comments?

Meta calls a DM sent in answer to a comment a private reply, and its developer docs set the limits that every tool sending through Meta's API works under, BetterSocials included. The Instagram private replies documentation states them in four parts.

  • One message per comment. Meta's docs say: "Only one message can be sent to the Instagram user who commented."
  • A 7-day clock. "The message must be sent within 7 days from when the comment was created."
  • The conversation waits on them. "Only when the Instagram user responds to the private message can you continue the conversation within the 24-hour messaging window."
  • Live comments are stricter. Meta says "private replies on Instagram Live Story comments can only be sent during the live broadcast."

The 24-hour messaging window is the time a business has to answer a DM after the person's last message, and every message they send restarts it. Past that, no tool can send through the API.

You can still reply from the Instagram app.

Where the DM lands depends on whether they follow you. Meta's docs say it goes to "the Instagram user's Inbox folder, if the Instagram user follows the Instagram professional account, or to the Instagram user's Request folder, if the Instagram user does not follow the account." A new client who found you through a Reel may not follow you yet, so say "check your requests" in the public reply.

Meta Business Suite applies the same 7-day rule to DMs you send by hand from a comment. Its comment actions help page says: "You can't send a message in response to comments posted more than 7 days ago." Public comment replies have no time limit, so an older comment can still get the link in a reply.

How do you set up comment-to-DM in ManyChat?

ManyChat's help center documents a Quick Automation called Auto-DM links from comments, built for this job. Instagram has to be connected to ManyChat first. For a custom setup, ManyChat's Instagram Post and Reel Comments trigger starts a flow of your own.

ManyChat works on Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp and TikTok. The flow builder, where you lay out each message in a sequence, is where it earns its price, and ManyChat is the better fit for a studio that wants multi-step sequences or messages on WhatsApp as well as Instagram.

Every price in this piece is what the vendor's own page listed in October 2026, except Meta's, which we checked in July. ManyChat meters its plans by active contacts. Pro is $39 a month with 2,500 active contacts included. Each extra contact costs $0.05 on Pro, $0.10 on Essential and $0.025 on Business, billed monthly.

Yes, Meta Business Suite includes a comment-to-message automation at no charge, according to Meta's business help pages. It sends a message when a comment on your post contains keywords or phrases you set.

The limits shape how a studio uses it:

  • The message is a fixed template you write, and every commenter gets the same text.
  • Setup for comment-to-message is desktop only.
  • For keyword message automations, Meta says "keywords are case-sensitive, and an automated message will not be sent unless the keywords match exactly." Each automation holds at most 5 keywords or phrases.
  • Meta's docs say "Inbox will automatically send a keyword automation to a message after 15 minutes unless you personally respond before then."
  • Meta Business Agent, Meta's AI for businesses, pauses your existing automations when you turn it on.

Meta Business Suite is the cheapest route, at $0, and for one keyword and one link it can be enough.

What does a busy month cost on each tool?

The contact meter is what separates a ManyChat bill from a BetterSocials one in a busy month. BetterSocials Creator is $29 a month, or $24 a month billed yearly, for four social accounts and one login, with unlimited contacts, and nothing on any BetterSocials plan is billed per contact. A studio on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok fits inside those four accounts.

ToolPriceExtra contacts
BetterSocials Creator$29/month, 4 accountsNo charge, unlimited contacts
ManyChat Pro$39 a month, 2,500 active contacts$0.05 each, billed monthly
Meta Business SuiteFreeNo charge

Say a post goes viral. On ManyChat Pro, the bill is $39 plus $0.05 for every active contact past 2,500, so it rises that month. On BetterSocials Creator the same month stays at $29, with no meter to run up.

Meta Business Suite is cheaper than both. What BetterSocials's $29 buys over it is AI replies in your voice for the comments that skip the keyword, and one inbox that also holds TikTok and YouTube comments. Each AI reply uses one of Creator's 1,000 AI credits a month, and when they run out the AI pauses instead of charging more.

What about the comments that don't use the keyword?

BetterSocials answers those from AI rules, which are plain sentences you write once, such as "never quote prices, send people to the booking link." Links you write into your rules, like your booking link, stay in the reply.

AI replies have a Comments section and a DMs section, each with three settings: Off, Draft for me and Reply in my voice. On Draft for me, every new comment or DM gets a draft in your voice and nothing posts until you approve it. On Reply in my voice, everyday comments get an answer 1 to 5 minutes later, and a DM gets one about a minute after it arrives.

Questions wait in Needs reply unless you turn on Answer questions too, and that switch only turns on once you've written at least one AI rule, so the AI answers from your prices, hours and booking link. When your rules don't cover what someone asked, the comment or DM waits for you in Needs reply.

Every new comment and DM gets a tag on arrival, and anyone asking about price, booking or availability is tagged Lead. A new lead sends a push notification to your phone, and an unanswered lead gets at most one reminder email a day.

How BetterSocials does this

For lash and nail studios, and other local businesses whose comments and DMs bring in bookings, BetterSocials fits best when you want them answered from one inbox. These are the steps, from BetterSocials's setup guide and link tracking page:

  1. Open Connected Accounts in the sidebar, pick Instagram and sign in on Instagram's own screen. It takes under a minute, and your password never touches BetterSocials.
  2. Go to Comment to DM and hit New keyword link.
  3. Fill in the five fields. Accounts picks where it runs. When someone comments… takes the word, PRICE, and capitals don't matter. Reply on the comment is your public line. …and DM them this holds the message and your booking link. AI replies starts off, and when you turn it on each reply is written fresh in your tone.
  4. Hit Go live, then say the word in your caption.
  5. Open Settings, then Link tracking, and switch it on. The booking link your keyword sends gets UTM tags at send time, so you can tell which clicks came from a comment.

Instagram and Facebook get both halves: the public reply and the DM. On TikTok, YouTube, Threads and LinkedIn Company Pages, the keyword posts a public reply with the link instead. On TikTok and YouTube, no tool can turn a comment into a private DM.

Creator covers four accounts. Pro is $49 a month for six accounts, or $39 billed yearly. Every plan has a 7-day free trial with a card on file.

FAQ

How do you set up Instagram comment to DM automation in ManyChat?

Connect your Instagram account to ManyChat first. Its help center then documents a Quick Automation called Auto-DM links from comments, plus an Instagram Post and Reel Comments trigger for a flow of your own. Pro is $39 a month with 2,500 active contacts, and each extra contact costs $0.05, billed monthly.

What is Meta's private reply policy for Instagram comments?

Meta lets a business send one private message to a person who commented, within 7 days of the comment. Its docs say: "Only when the Instagram user responds to the private message can you continue the conversation within the 24-hour messaging window." Every tool on the official API works under this rule, BetterSocials included.

Is there a 7-day window to DM someone who commented on Instagram?

Yes. Meta's developer docs say the private reply "must be sent within 7 days from when the comment was created." After that, no tool can send it through the API. Comments on an Instagram Live are stricter, since a private reply only works during the broadcast.

Is Instagram comment to DM automation allowed under Meta's messaging API policy?

Yes. Meta documents private replies to comments in its Instagram messaging docs, so a tool can send them through the official API, as BetterSocials does. The limits are Meta's: one message per comment, sent within 7 days, and the person has to answer before you can send more.

It may have landed in their message requests. Meta's docs say a private reply lands in the Inbox folder if the person follows you and in the Request folder if they don't. Ask commenters to check their requests, and track link clicks so you count what arrived.

Does a price comment on TikTok send a DM?

No. TikTok doesn't let a comment start a private DM on any tool outside a limited rollout in Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia. In BetterSocials, the TikTok keyword posts a public reply with your booking link. A TikTok DM can be answered once the person writes to you first.
