Can AI reply to Instagram comments in any language?
Yes. AI reply tools can answer an Instagram comment in its own language because they write each reply fresh. Keyword templates can't. Here's the setup.

Yes, an Instagram comment can get a reply in the language it was written in, as long as the tool writes each reply fresh. A keyword template can't do it, because it sends the exact words you typed. BetterSocials is best for drafting every comment and DM reply in your voice from one inbox, InstantDM is best for a free start, and Meta Business Suite is best for free fixed templates.
AI replies can follow the language, templates can't
BetterSocials, Manychat and InstantDM all use AI to write replies, and AI is what lets a reply match the commenter's language. An AI reply is generated for each comment, so it can read the comment before it answers. A template is a stored sentence, so every commenter gets the same words.
This is the how-to version of the question. It's written for whoever owns the inbox the way an ops lead owns the CRM, with the setup laid out as steps you can finish this week.
Before you trust any tool with a second language, check three things. Replies should be held for approval at first, the AI should stop when it doesn't know a fact, and you should know what each reply costs.
Meta Business Suite, LinkDM and CreatorFlow send the words you typed
Meta Business Suite's free keyword automation sends a message reply when a comment contains a keyword you set, and the message is a fixed template you write yourself. LinkDM and CreatorFlow work the same way, with keyword and template replies and no AI replies. Whatever language the commenter used, they get the sentence you stored.
The workaround is one automation per language, each with its own keyword and its own translated message. Two limits make that brittle. Meta caps each keyword automation at five case-sensitive keywords, and the commenter has to type your exact word for anything to fire.
A question written in plain Arabic, with no keyword in it, gets nothing back. Meta's automations can also wait 15 minutes before sending unless you reply first, and setup is desktop only.
That's fine for a giveaway keyword. It's a poor fit for a question about price or availability in a language you didn't plan for.
Manychat AI Comments is Instagram only and still in beta
Manychat AI Comments is the AI side of Manychat's comment tools, and Manychat's AI Comments help page covers it. It works on Instagram only and is in beta. Manychat itself runs on Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp and TikTok, and it charges extra for its AI.
The bill is metered by active contacts rather than set at one flat price. As of October 2026, Pro is $39 a month with 2,500 active contacts, and each extra contact costs $0.05, billed monthly.
A Pro account that goes 1,500 contacts past its allowance in a month pays $0.05 for each of them on top of the $39, which comes to nearly three times the plan price, and the AI is charged on top of that. For an ops team, that meter is the part to model, because a post that pulls comments in several languages also pulls new contacts.
NapoleonCat suggests replies, and the DM route has its own limits
NapoleonCat's help center has a guide to creating and using AI reply suggestions. Read it for who reviews a suggestion and who presses send, before you plan a second language around it. That review step decides how much of the work stays with your team.
The other common route moves a question out of the public thread and into DMs. Instagram allows one private reply per comment, within 7 days of the comment, and it lands in Requests when the person doesn't follow you. A public reply in their language is still the one everyone else on the post reads.
Before you pick either route, read each vendor's own docs for two facts. Check whether replies follow the commenter's language, and whether a person has to press send.
Six Instagram reply tools compared by how they write
BetterSocials leads this list because the job here is writing a fresh reply to every comment, and its AI replies do that for comments and DMs. The rest are sorted by how much of the reply the tool writes for you. Prices below are as of September and October 2026.
| Tool | How it replies | Platforms | Starting price |
|---|---|---|---|
| BetterSocials | AI drafts in your voice | Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, LinkedIn | Creator, $29 a month, 4 accounts |
| Manychat | AI Comments, Instagram only, beta | Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, TikTok | Pro, $39 a month, 2,500 contacts |
| InstantDM | AI agents and reply variations | Instagram, Facebook | Free, 500 credits a month |
| Meta Business Suite | Fixed template you write | Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp | Free |
| LinkDM | Keyword and template replies | Instagram, Facebook | Free, 1,000 DMs a month |
| CreatorFlow | Template replies | Free, 500 DMs a month |
InstantDM is the cheapest tool in this table for trying AI on comments, with a free plan of 500 credits a month. Its AI agents run on ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, and they aren't trained on your own voice.
LinkDM and CreatorFlow are cheaper to start than BetterSocials too, and CreatorFlow Pro is $15 a month, or $12 billed yearly, for two accounts. Both send templates, so the language of the reply is the language you wrote it in.
BetterSocials Creator is $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly, for four accounts with unlimited contacts and 1,000 AI credits a month. Manychat Pro costs $10 more a month before any extra contacts.
Instagram's limits apply in any language
Instagram's rules bind every tool, BetterSocials and Manychat included, whatever language the reply is in. Public comment replies have no time limit. Private replies are tighter.
Per Meta's private replies documentation, a tool can send one private message per comment, within 7 days of when the comment was posted. It lands in the person's Inbox folder if they follow you, and in their Requests folder if they don't. The conversation only continues if they write back.
After that, Instagram lets a business reply to a DM only within 24 hours of the person's last message. Every new message from them restarts the clock, and past the window you can still answer from the Instagram app itself.
Instagram also has its own creator tool, AI Auto Replies, which answers messages from a knowledge base you assemble. It runs in the mobile app only, is "being gradually introduced" and needs a creator AI built in Meta AI Studio. Meta's own warning is that "messages generated by AI may not be accurate or appropriate."
How to set it up in BetterSocials this week
BetterSocials puts Instagram comments and DMs in one inbox and drafts each reply in your voice, from a voice profile built on your past replies plus AI rules you write. Its AI replies setting has two sections, Comments and DMs, and each has Off, Draft for me and Reply in my voice. The steps below take about ten minutes to set up, then a week of approvals.
- Connect Instagram from Connected Accounts in the sidebar. You sign in on Instagram's own screen, and comments and DMs start landing in the Inbox.
- Open Settings, then AI voice. Paste a handful of replies you've written into the Your voice box, or describe your tone.
- Write your prices, hours and booking link as AI rules, in plain sentences. The AI writes from these facts, so they're the part you control.
- Set Comments to Draft for me. Every new comment gets a draft the moment it arrives, and nothing posts until you approve it from Needs reply or with Approve in bulk.
- Read the drafts on comments that aren't in English first. If you can't read the language, check the facts in the draft against your rules.
- After a week of drafts you'd have sent, switch Comments to Reply in my voice. Everyday comments then get an answer 1 to 5 minutes after they land.
- Turn on Answer questions too once your rules cover the questions you get. It only switches on after you've written at least one AI rule.
The DMs section has the same three settings, and on Reply in my voice a DM gets an answer about a minute after it arrives. When your rules don't cover what someone asked, the AI doesn't guess, and the comment or DM waits for you in Needs reply. Each AI reply or draft uses 1 AI credit.
FAQ
Can a keyword auto-reply answer in the commenter's language?
Only in the language you typed it in. Meta Business Suite, LinkDM and CreatorFlow send a fixed template you write yourself. You can set one keyword per language, but Meta caps each automation at five case-sensitive keywords, and the commenter has to type your exact word for it to fire.
Does Instagram have its own AI that replies for you?
Instagram's creator AI Auto Replies answers messages from a knowledge base you assemble. It runs in the mobile app only, is "being gradually introduced" and needs a creator AI built in Meta AI Studio. Meta warns that "messages generated by AI may not be accurate or appropriate."
How do I check an AI reply in a language I can't read?
You can't check the wording, so control the facts. In BetterSocials, write your prices, hours and booking link as AI rules, and keep Draft for me on at first. When your rules don't cover what someone asked, the AI doesn't guess and the comment waits for you in Needs reply.
