6 SocialBee alternatives that answer comments and DMs (2026)
Leaving SocialBee because comments and DMs pile up? Six alternatives compared on price, inbox and AI replies, from BetterSocials to Buffer and Metricool.
By Growth Ops Weekly staff7 min read
If comments and DMs bring in your customers, BetterSocials is the SocialBee alternative to try first, because it posts to six platforms and answers comments and DMs in your voice from one inbox. If a team shares the inbox, look at Agorapulse. If you mostly schedule posts, Buffer is the cheaper per-channel pick.
Why do people look past SocialBee?
SocialBee's Bootstrap plan is between $24 and $25 a month billed yearly for five social profiles and one user, as of October 2026. Accelerate is just over $40 a month billed yearly for ten profiles, and Pro is a little over eighty dollars a month billed yearly for 25 profiles across five workspaces with three users each. Every plan includes unlimited AI content generation and a 14-day free trial.
That's a fair price for planning posts, and anyone who mostly plans and schedules posts by content category can stay put. Operators look elsewhere for the other half of the work: the comments and DMs that come back after a post goes out.
We sorted the six alternatives below by that job: replies, scheduling, or both in one tool. A unified inbox, in this piece, means one screen where the comments and DMs from every connected account land, so nobody has to open each app.
BetterSocials: posting plus AI replies to comments and DMs
BetterSocials is best for owners and creators leaving SocialBee because comments and DMs now bring in customers. It posts to Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Threads, TikTok and LinkedIn, and puts every comment and DM from those accounts in one Inbox. AI replies draft or send answers in the owner's voice, built from replies they've already written.
AI replies has two sections, Comments and DMs, and each has three settings: Off, Draft for me and Reply in my voice. On Reply in my voice, everyday comments get an answer 1 to 5 minutes after they land, and a DM gets one about a minute after it arrives. Questions wait in Needs reply for your approval unless you switch on Answer questions too, which needs at least one AI rule first.
Comment-to-DM, where a keyword in a comment sends that person a DM with a link, works on Instagram and Facebook. On TikTok, YouTube, Threads and LinkedIn Company Pages, the keyword posts a public reply with the link instead. Our walkthrough of how to set up "comment LINK and I'll DM you" on Instagram in 2026 covers that half step by step.
SocialBee is cheaper per profile. BetterSocials Creator is $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly, for four accounts and one login, where SocialBee Bootstrap gives five profiles for between $24 and $25 billed yearly. Pro is $49 a month, or $39 billed yearly, for six accounts, and Team is $99 a month, or $79 billed yearly, for twelve accounts and unlimited teammates.
What BetterSocials puts its price into is the reply side: the DM inbox, AI replies in your voice and keyword comment-to-DM, with unlimited contacts and nothing billed per contact. Every plan has a 7-day free trial with a card required. There's no free plan, and X, email inboxes, WhatsApp, Telegram and SMS can't be connected.
Set it up this week
- Connect the accounts that get the most comments from Connected Accounts. Each one signs in on the platform's own screen.
- Open Settings, then AI voice, and paste a handful of replies you've written into the Your voice box. Put prices, hours and links in Rules.
- Set Comments and DMs to Draft for me, then for a few days approve comment drafts from Needs reply and DM drafts from each conversation.
- Move the kinds of reply you trust to Reply in my voice.
Buffer: the cheapest way to schedule per channel
Buffer is best for people who mostly schedule posts and answer a few comments by hand. Buffer costs $5 a channel a month billed yearly, as of August 2026, so five channels run $25 a month and six run $30. Five channels on Buffer cost about what SocialBee Bootstrap charges for five profiles.
Buffer's Community inbox is on every plan and reads comments, YouTube comments included. The inbox covers comments only, so Instagram and Facebook DMs stay in the phone app.
Pick Buffer for the scheduling job on its own, or for a light reply load that's all public comments.
Metricool: an inbox from the free plan
Metricool is best for small businesses that want a real inbox and analytics without a big bill. Metricool's inbox starts on its free plan, reads YouTube comments, and adds LinkedIn on Starter. Paid plans are priced per brand, from $20 a month as of October 2026.
Metricool fits the "both" job for an operator who answers every reply by hand and wants the reporting in the same place. For a keyword comment that sends a DM with a link, BetterSocials is the pick on this list.
Agorapulse: one inbox for a team
Agorapulse is best for teams where several people share one inbox for comments, DMs and reviews. Agorapulse is $79 per user a month billed yearly, as of October 2026, and Standard includes ten social profiles per user. Extra profiles cost $10 a month on yearly billing or $15 on monthly.
The combined inbox for comments, DMs and reviews from all networks is ticked on all four plans. Its plan grid also lists assigning comments and messages, reply collision detection, saved replies and AI reply suggestions. The per-user price is the catch for one person and the fit for a team that splits the queue.

Later: Instagram and TikTok conversations on Growth
Later is best for Instagram and TikTok accounts that want posting and conversations in one plan. Later Starter is $25 a month, or $18.75 billed yearly, and Growth is $50 a month, or $37.50 billed yearly, as of September 2026. Scale is $110 a month, or $82.50 billed yearly.
Later's Conversations inbox starts on Growth. It covers Instagram DMs and comments, Facebook DMs and comments, and TikTok comments. It has no YouTube or LinkedIn conversations, so a YouTube-heavy account answers those comments somewhere else.
Vista Social: an inbox with DM automations
Vista Social is best for small teams that want a social inbox and DM automations on one plan. Vista Social Professional is $99 a month, or $80 billed yearly, with two users, as of October 2026. The inbox and the DM automations both start on Professional.
You can try Vista Social for 14 days without a card. Its entry plan costs more than SocialBee Bootstrap, so it suits a team that already knows its reply volume justifies the price.
How do the SocialBee alternatives compare on price?
SocialBee sits first in the table, with BetterSocials next and the other five tools after it in the order above. Prices are as of October 2026, except Buffer's from August 2026 and Later's from September 2026.
| Tool | Pricing model | Starts at | Best fit | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SocialBee | Per plan, by profiles | $24-$25/mo billed yearly | Planning posts by category | One user until Pro |
| BetterSocials | Per plan, by accounts | $29/mo for 4 accounts | Replies to comments and DMs | No X, email or WhatsApp |
| Buffer | Per channel | $5/channel billed yearly | Cheap scheduling | Comments-only inbox |
| Metricool | Per brand | $20/mo per brand | Inbox plus analytics | No keyword automation |
| Agorapulse | Per user | $79/user billed yearly | Teams sharing one inbox | Cost grows with each seat |
| Later | Per plan | $25/mo, inbox from $50 | Instagram and TikTok | No YouTube conversations |
| Vista Social | Per plan | $99/mo, or $80 yearly | Inbox with DM automations | Higher entry price |
Starts at is the lowest paid price in each section above, and Metricool also has a free plan with its inbox. On Later, the inbox needs Growth, which is why the cell shows both figures.
FAQ
What is the best SocialBee alternative for replying to comments and DMs with AI?
BetterSocials is the best fit when replies are the job. It puts comments from six platforms and Instagram, Facebook and TikTok DMs in one Inbox, and AI drafts or sends replies in the owner's voice. Creator is $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly, for four accounts. Agorapulse also lists AI reply suggestions, priced per user.
How much do SocialBee alternatives cost compared with SocialBee?
SocialBee Bootstrap is between $24 and $25 a month billed yearly for five profiles, and Accelerate is just over $40 for ten, so SocialBee is cheaper per profile than BetterSocials. Buffer is $5 a channel billed yearly. BetterSocials Pro is $49 a month, or $39 billed yearly, for six accounts, and puts the difference into the DM inbox and AI replies.
What do I give up if I leave SocialBee?
SocialBee sorts posts into content categories, 10 on Bootstrap and 50 on Accelerate, and every plan includes unlimited AI content generation. Its Pro plan covers 25 profiles across five workspaces with three users each. If those categories run your calendar, check how each alternative organizes posts before you switch.
Who should stay on SocialBee?
Stay if your work is mostly planning posts by category and comments and DMs are a small part of the day. Agencies that need 25 profiles across five workspaces get that on SocialBee Pro at a little over eighty dollars a month billed yearly. For posting alone, five profiles for between $24 and $25 billed yearly is a fair price.
Do any of these tools charge per contact like ManyChat?
BetterSocials, Buffer and Agorapulse don't bill per contact: BetterSocials charges by social accounts with unlimited contacts, Buffer per channel and Agorapulse per user. ManyChat does. Its Pro plan is $39 a month, or $29 billed yearly, for 2,500 active contacts, as of October 2026. A Pro account on monthly billing that reaches 4,000 contacts pays $39 plus $0.05 for each contact past 2,500, which comes to $114.
